My story by Dr. Richard Cohen

I began experiencing joint pains at the age of three. My mother toted me to many different specialists, but it wasn't until I was fourteen  before their was a correct diagnosis for what ailed me. I was born with a congenital back problem and this was the reason for all of my aches and pains.

By the time I was twenty three, standing for even five minutes was very painful and I eventually had spinal fusion surgery in 1984. Having been to so many doctors since I was a child, I felt it was my destiny to become a healer. I graduated Chiropractic college in 1985. 

I had the exceptional good fortune of studying under one of the finest Chiropractors of my generation, Dr. Walter Vernon Pierce. It was Dr. Pierce's passion for helping others and his pursuit  of results that initially attracted me to him. We used to play this game in his office where I would look at the x-rays of the next new patient, and tell him what I felt was the best course of treatment. This training was invaluable, and I knew that if I could attain his knowledge and wisdom that I too would  see similar results in my own practice.

During my twelve years of study under Dr. Pierce he taught me many valuable lessons that are still with me today. I would like to share two of them with you. First: always pick up the phone. He used to tell me patients don't want to talk to an assistant, they want to talk to you. Second: most people do not understand what we do and they are skeptical and afraid of going to the Chiropractor. Offer a no charge consultation and let them see that for most of them your treatment is the key to eliminating their problem.

 The passion for helping others, and getting quick results is what led me to the pulstar computerized instrument. I have been utilizing this technology for the past nineteen years. This instrument along with a thorough  history, x-rays, and physical examination, allows me to objectively get to the bottom of the patients problem as quickly as possible.
